Spanish at Saint Martha's Catholic School goes from PreK3- 8th grade with the goal to be able to test out of Spanish I when students get to high school. A large part of the Spanish class is oral participation. Students repeat vocabulary after the teacher, try to say words on their own and participate in activities such as singing songs, conversing in Spanish, and asking and answering questions in Spanish with their peers.
Students are graded on class participation and assessed on language proficiency. Students’ knowledge of Spanish vocabulary and Hispanic culture will be measured through various assessments including class work, oral quizzes, quizzes/tests, group work, projects and peer work.
